Orleans or Gold Coast Coupons

Hi All,

I%26#39;ve decided to take my parents to vegas in December for their christmas present and wasn%26#39;t really planning on going again this year. I was wondering if anyone had any available buffet coupons for either the Orleans or Gold Coast that they weren%26#39;t going to be using anymore this year. If you do, it would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!

Orleans or Gold Coast Coupons

Sunshine: I was at the GC and Orleans last week..Only ate lunch, but both give one dollar off if you have their players card..(7.45)..I asked an elderly couple in line why it was so busy..They replied that it was senior citizen day (Tues. and Thurs.)and the local paper prints a 3 dollar off coupon...Not sure how long this will last, but may be worth a phone call to the hotel...

they used to give terrific fun books out..but no more...remember the good old orleans jungle?? pre-resort fee days???

which strip hotel for Blackjack?

We are going to vegas in a few weeks.

I love to play blackjack.

I am not a card counter, just use the basic strategy.

I would like to know which strip hotel has the blackjack games with the best odds for a basic strategy player.

We will be staying at the Bellagio, so we would like to find good tables somewhat close by.

Thanks!

which strip hotel for Blackjack?

subscribe to the newsletter at www.bj21.com

well spent $12

you will get a complete listing of the games, including casino, house, edge, minimums, etc.

many are surprised to find that quite a few decent games are on the strip

of course you need to walk through the casino(s) and find the game - not all tables in the same pit, even next to each other, have the same rules. you must ask about surrender, splitting, etc, since these are not on the felt or placard on the table.

In general, decent games can be found at the independents wynn and venetian/palazzo and the MGM group. the HET group is the worst

check the newsletter and spend a few minutes finding your game

Without going into details, and acknowledging Bridgefans bj21, best games are at MGM, Mandalay, Monte Carlo, Bellagio, Mirage and Tropicana. HET games are terrible in case you didn%26#39;t see the trend.

Thanks for the replies.

Since Bellagio and MGM are mentioned is it safe to assume that Wynn would also have good tables since they are owned by the same company?

Thanks,

CSBM

ps I enjoyed your report on the Wynn:)

The Wynn is not owned by the MGM. It is owned by Steve Wynn.

MGM owns: MGM, Mirage, NYNY, Bellagio, Circus Circus, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo and Treasure Island.

You do not say what limits you are interested in but the Bellagio has one $5 table 24/7 with good rules.

Most of the other tables are $25 min mid-week.

great rates at MGM & Mirage

I have a great rate offered at MGM Grand for $69 per night for the dates I need in December. I can also get some really great rates at the Mirage. They are a little higher, but they come with a $30 buffet offer. Which one would be the best choice. I haven%26#39;t stayed at either one.

great rates at MGM %26amp; Mirage

Mirage has a better center strip location and is not as huge as MGM so it would be my choice.

great rates at MGM %26amp; Mirage

Just a word of caution, if it is the ';no regrets'; offer, there are no refunds. Please make sure to read all of the fine print before booking. Good luck to you!

I like Mirage better than MGM. It%26#39;s not so big, and we%26#39;ve had nice customer service there and nice rooms. The grounds and lobby area are lovely. I also prefer the center strip.

Mirage is better than MGM.

I%26#39;d choose Mirage for location alone, but now that they rooms have all just been redone, it%26#39;s a no brainer. Mirage wins by a mile!

There is a better rate for Mirage called the Lakers Bonus. I have put the link to it. It is not a third part reservation, it goes directly to the hotel. Click on the promo that says Lakers Bonus. I got it for the beginning of October and at that time it was $405 for a strip view room plus the $30 buffet and 2 tickets to to the Sigfrid and Roy%26#39;s garden. Now it is a little higher. You can also call the Mirage and ask for it.

Sorry---I forgot to put the link!

It%26#39;s me again---guess I%26#39;m not quite awake. The $405 was for 3 nights. Think I gave you all the info this time!

  • Advice on shows

I will be in Vegas mid-October and am looking to book a show for my boyfriend and I. I would prefer to see one of the Cirque du Soleil shows but not sure if BF would enjoy... He said no show with too much ';dancing';, nothing too ballet-like... Would the Cirque shows be enjoyable to him? Are there any recommended magic shows? BF would have loved to see Siegfried %26amp; Roy. Appreciate your advise!

    Advice on shows

Your friend would probably like O or Mystere, anither great show would be Danny Gans.

Lance Burton is great for magic.

Sieg and Roy put on a super show in there day.

    Advice on shows

you may want to try Ka at the MGM. It is a Cirque show, but it is more acrobatics than dancing. Also, it follows a story line so that really holds your interests.

Of course, if you are Beatles fans, you have to see Love at the Mirage.

    Charge for Teenagers in room

I will be in Las Vegas in February with my husband and 2 yeenage daughters---are there any hotels on the strip where kids under 18 stay free??

    Charge for Teenagers in room

I would think that most of the hotels websites would state if they have that policy or not, you might want to sart there. Keep in mind, Las Vegas is not like any other city. Room rates in Vegas are much higher on weekends than during the week and rates also change from week to week, day to day and sometimes hour to hour.

    Charge for Teenagers in room

The Four Seasons allows children under 18 to stay in their the room free of charge.

    Make that ';in the room';

We%26#39;ve stayed at Venetian and Palazzo with our two teens with no increase in price. Both were great rooms for four people.

Definitely recommend the Venetian. We were there with our two teens (17,15) and even a friend of my son%26#39;s flew in for a concert. Just make sure you request a room with 2 queen beds. There%26#39;s also a food court there with reasonably priced food that the kids like and the Grand Lux is a great place to eat with large portions and reasonable prices ! Good security too. Enjoy !

Defending the Caveman closing by February

I saw a news article mentioning that Golden Nugget will not be renewing the contract for Defending the Caveman and will be replacing it with ';Downtown Gordie Brown'; as of February. Wasn%26#39;t he at Nugget before? I%26#39;ve never seen him perform- any comments? Somehow I don%26#39;t think he%26#39;ll be attracting any more of an audience than Caveman- I wish the Nugget would come up with something worthwhile for their showroom.

Defending the Caveman closing by February

It%26#39;s extremely hard to get a good show downtown. The best show downtown by far is The Rat Pack is Back at the Plaza and it%26#39;s because of the Copa-styled theater. I don%26#39;t go downtown for the shows anyways, I go downtown for the cheap gaming.

Defending the Caveman closing by February

Someone on here once compared Gordie Brown to Danny Gans, saying he was great at 1/2 the price. We were just looking him up on the internet over this past weekend, because his impersonations (that we saw) were really good! Turns out that he and Celine will be right here in Cleveland while we are out there in Vegas. He is headlining for her. I am looking forward to catching a show of his, especially if he isn%26#39;t so overpriced as Danny Gans in (in my opinion)!

I%26#39;ve seen Gordie Brown twice...once when he was at the Venetian and once at the V Theatre at Planet Hollywood. I highly recommend his show. He is a great combination of comedy and impressions.

I have also seen Danny Gans and preferred Gordie Brown as his show was funnier and he interacted with the audience more and ad libbed a lot. (Just my opinion, I know a lot of people love Danny Gans...but I wasn%26#39;t all that impressed).

Gordie Brown is getting excellent exposure touring with Dion which should translate into ticket sales for a time. I saw him his first night on the tour and he did very well in front of such a large crowd for the first time. He was very well received by an audience that didn%26#39;t have a clue who he was.

I hadn%26#39;t heard anything good about that run of Caveman. Gordie Brown should be a huge boost for the Nugget by comparison. He%26#39;s been opening for Celine for the North American leg of his tour. I think that this is a real upgrade not only for the Nugget but for all of downtown because there is finally a show worth leaving the strip to see. Here%26#39;s hoping the other casinos downtown make some move to keep up.

  • Bally's or MGM Grand

I am visiting Las Vegas this October. I%26#39;ve been to Vegas twice and stayed at The Flamingo and MGM Grand. My experience at both hotels was ';very good';.

I usually don%26#39;t stay in the same place twice - especially with the many hotels to choose from. I booked Bally%26#39;s (Hot-Deal promo - South Tower) 3 Nights $269 Total. I just rec%26#39;d the MGM promo (INB211) for $225 Total.

Should I stick with Bally%26#39;s or go back to MGM? It%26#39;s $44 Less at MGM %26amp; I%26#39;ve experienced MGM (the beds are so comfy!). Do you think Bally%26#39;s will be as comfy?

    Thanks!

    Bally's or MGM Grand

Other than Bally%26#39;s great central location, MGM is a superior hotel on just about every level. For a lower rate it%26#39;s a no brainer I%26#39;m far as I%26#39;m concerned.

    Bally's or MGM Grand

You are getting the better offer from MGM. I wouldn%26#39;t consider Bally%26#39;s over MGM unless that rate was for North Tower.

I didn%26#39;t think the beds at Bally%26#39;s were comfortable. The windows at Bally%26#39;s are very dirty and you most likely would get a mountain view instead of a strip view.

One positive thing abt Bally%26#39;s is it%26#39;s centeral location. So it%26#39;s a matter of convience to you. Do you want central location or do you want comfortable accomodations and trek it from there?

I would like to stay at MGM grand one day and I%26#39;ll take your word for it that the beds are super comfy cuz the beds at Bally%26#39;s were run-of-the mill hotel beds (springs). The towels are nice, however Bally%26#39;s soap/shampoo combo leaves your skin feeling dry. You could check my trip report for further details.

I would stay with Bally%26#39;s the rooms are very nice, lot larger than MGM rooms, as well as the bathroom, the beds are very comfy, %26amp; the location is excellent being near the center of the strip. It%26#39;s connected to Paris which is nice with great reasonable places to eat.

    Ballys has the location.

    MGM is the better hotel.

    Thanks everyone!

We decided to give Bally%26#39;s a try - mostly because of the centre strip location and also Bally%26#39;s gave us a discounted rate and the MGM%26#39;s Lazy River is closed on our days....I am looking forward to our trip, we leave in 23 Days!

F.Y.I. Bally%26#39;s has a ';Best Rate Guarantee'; they matched the MGM Rate and gave us an additional 10% off.

Trip Report to follow next month.

    Thanks Again!
