we just got back %26amp; have to say we loved vegas! but what we didn%26#39;t love was our hotel bill.This happened @ the Paris so not sure if this is common @ other hotels. the day before check-out my husband happened to check on the tv what our bill was looking like seeing we had charged most everything we did to our room...thats when he saw that our room rate alone flautuated day to day,1 day it was 147, the next it was 225 %26amp; so on, so he figured out we were paying an average of 275 @nite which came out to be almost 700. more than we were originally quoted! of course we flew down to front desk to inquire what the heck is going on,welllll they explained that when accomodations were down on certain days your rate when UP!(like its our fault that they didn%26#39;t fill up their rooms!)this is crazy%26amp; soooo wrong! of course we asked numerous times to get the manager down here but conviently he was never to be found,we were given his phone number %26amp; always went into voicemail! so we checkout %26amp; are Still trying to reach him! We have traveled all over the place %26amp; never encountered such an outrage. So @ least @ Paris Look-out!!truly we just don%26#39;t know What to do! I was thinking of getting in touch w/Harrah%26#39;s who runs 6 or 7 of these hotels but again I%26#39;m afraid of the ';please hold while we try to reach the manager'; ....%26amp; get nothing but voicemail! So needless to say That alone left a bad taste in my husband%26#39;s mouth about ever going back! its too bad becuz other than that Vegas was so much fun!
1st timers -watch your hotel bill!
If you have written confirmation of your booking and price, it%26#39;s a lawyer you want, not the manager of the hotel. What they have done is fraudulent.
1st timers -watch your hotel bill!
Just makes you want to ';flatulate';
Anyway, Was this booking done directly with the hotel, or at a travel website, or travel agent?
I%26#39;ve heard of people booking on Hotels.com for example, that saw the ';average daily rate'; then found that the weekday rate sas one and weekend another, but the average rate was accurate.
It%26#39;s hard to believe that the rate would change during the stay , especially if booken directly with the hotel
or their own website.
I have never had a problem at any HET hotels, I check on the tv and the rates charged have always been the same as the rates I booked at or re-booked when rates have fallen.
When you say ';originally quoted'; does that mean you actually booked there and then at them rates, if so you should have had some sort of confirmation and a booking reference. Write or email quoting your booking reference and the rates you booked at and ask for an immediate refund to your credit card for the overcharge.
If by ';originally quoted'; you mean you rang and were given rates for your period of travel but didn%26#39;t actually book then its a lesson learned. Hotel rates in Vegas fluctuate wildly and booking is essential, as is keeping an eye on the rates incase they drop before you travel when you can ask for your rate to be adjusted.
Last June I stayed at the Flamingo for a few nights, and when I checked my bill prior to check out the rates were wrong. I had booked on the hotel%26#39;s website with a Hot Deals Special and I had my confirmation with me.
When I called down they gave me a hassle over the phone and said I had to talk to a manager. Waitied over an hour and no call back. Finally went down to the desk and they adjusted the rate immediately. But it was not good customer service that this had to be done. I found the Flamingo short on customer service my entire stay.
it was booked thru a travel agency so I am going down today and yes I do have the original quote on paper %26amp; my husband will call our credit card company about this.
';It%26#39;s hard to believe that the rate would change during the stay , especially if booken directly with the hotel or their own website.';
Rates CAN often change from day to day, of course I mean changes that are evident when the reservation is made. The hotel shouldn%26#39;t be changing your rate after you%26#39;ve checked in!
So this is either a case of the OP perhaps not understanding the reservation, or a mistake on the hotels part.
A good argument for printing out the entire reservation and bringing it with you, I know some people who just bring the confirmation number along, which is NOT enough when you run into a problem like this.
';true2u';, if you%26#39;re sure you were overcharged, (versus perhaps not reading your reservation carefully enough when you booked), the next step I would recommend would be to contest the charge with your credit card company. Let THEM deal with the hotel, you don%26#39;t have to.
I have seen some guests get caught in the middle of travel agent v. hotel rates. So you might have a beef with the agent, not the hotel. Read your confirmation carefully. It will tell you if your rates are subject to change.
If you have booked through a travel agent and were guaranteed a PACKAGE DEAL then the hotel will likely adjust the bill (and then deal with the travel agent). It%26#39;s not worth it for them to have to deal with a credit card dispute.
My lesson learned is if they quote you a rate you are satisfied with book it immediately. Even if they tell you, you have to cancel your other one before they can book it, find a way to make it happen, make them hold while you call on a cell phone or something while you cancel the reservation, or ask them to make an exception or extension so you get that rate. I got a phenomenal rate at MGM, called to cancel at NYNY and within 15 minutes when I called back to MGM, that rate had changed by nearly $100.
There was nothing I could do, no one cared....think about it, they have thousands of rooms in each hotel. I am not surprised that you didn%26#39;t get good customer service, they know one person is not going to change their course of business.
I was able to get my original reservation reinstated at NYNY and they did give me good service in doing so and appeared empathetic, but at the same time said rates change all the time.
I would follow some posters advice and let your travel agency handle it. I am confident they have more leverage than one single consumer.
Shame on Paris if this is their policy. The only hotel in Vegas that I%26#39;ve paid for is MGM and they always handed me a print out of the reservation when I checked in which listed each day%26#39;s rate for the room - I was also required to initial the page for their records (and then I was given a copy for my records) - this was done at check in before I went to the room. Once they had an incorrect rate and I would not initial the form until they corrected it in the system.
I hope things work out for you! Good luck.....
Without even opening this I knew it was another case of someone using a 3rd party. As others have mentioned you should deal with your agent about this.
They are the ones you made your agreement with, not the hotel.
I know it won%26#39;t help but next time you will book direct with the hotel, and obtain valid confirmations. But thanks for reminding everyone else.
