Meridian Luxury Suites

I have an opportunity to book a condo for a week - directly from the owner of the suite. I have read on the forum that there are licensing issues with this resort. Most of the travellers that posted have booked through travel agent/expedia etc. I am just looking for some expert advice in this situation - do you think it is still safe for me to book since it is directly through the owner?

Why would you take the risk?

because it is hard to find an affordable suite with kitchen that is close to the strip. trying to also get a suite at the signature, but prices are a little out of our budget. I can get the Meridian for $100/night. If you have any other suggestions of hotels with fridges (at the very least) close to strip (walking distance), affordable, please let me know. I think this complex lost its ';hotel license';, but the condo part is still operational. I am looking for someone who can verify this for me.

my sister was booked there through expedia for November but her reservation was cancelled as they are no longer allowed to rent by the night as they did not have a hotel license...not sure how it would be with buying time from an owner but we booked a 2bed/2bath suite at the jockey club through the timeshare owner and it is right on the strip for 99 a night..
