Check in is very, very slow and we had a reservation. Do not touch any item in the mini-bar, they have sensors and will try to bill you. We wanted to put a soda in and were billed $190. Go figure. No space to keep things cold in their best suite. Food chooices are expensive, this is Reno. The shuttle bus is rough on baggage, we had liquids break and clothes ruined, filed a claim but not response to date. The construction brings dirt on everything, so why the high rates? Bed was good, but someone tried to enter our room unannounced when I was napping. Security says that cannot happen? We usually stay in Vegas so this was a new experience. I always pay for the best rooms as my wife likes a patio. The video poker was a grind, especially on the machines called Peppermill, why I don%26#39;t know. The casino was busy, a surprise due to the economy. Wife liked our stay better than I did because of the added expenses and the lukewarm welcome. It was my birthday, but not important to them. I would hesitate to stay there again.
stay at the Peppermill
Your experience was much different than ours. I however NEVER mess with those Mini Bars. In fact I normally refuse the key on the ones who have a lock. I carry a portable cooler that plugs in so always have cold drinks %26amp; a medicine chest. It is my understanding that a small Empty Fridge is available at The Peppermill on request so I guess you should have asked.
I for the life on me can I understand the ';I usually stay in Vegas'; comment.
We were there during Construction in July but noticed no dirt. In fact other than a bit noisy the new pool is a huge improvement over the old that is merged with it.
I wonder how you know that your personals were damaged on the shuttle rather than the flight or in baggage handling? I cannot imagine the hotel refusing compensation if it was as you say.
PS We cleared over $500 on slots, videos %26amp; BJ in 3 days of moderate play.
stay at the Peppermill
How can your baggage possibly be damaged on a shuttle?? Did it tip over??
Also, if you have every stayed in a ';best room'; in Vegas, you know what happens when you move something in a mini-bar.
Did you expect the machines just to pay out?? It is luck, and obviously you didn%26#39;t have any.
grosse: Do you realize how many people go to Reno on their birthday? Why would it be important to them? Last time I stayed at the Peppermill, they offered 2 for 1 at the buffet, as well as senior rates..for about 10 dollars for lunch...On that visit, I never witnessed any dirt on anything...loved their selection of slots, better than most casinos in Vegas.and payouts were much better than Vegas....good luck on trying to prove that your clothes were ruined by the shuttle..another good reason to not pack liquids in your luggage without putting them in ziploc plastic bags or tupperware.....I think you will also find that the economy will probably not have much to do with how busy the Peppermill is...lots of locals go there, as well as the Atlantis...also, my room had a refrigerator, so I never touched the minibar...Hope your next trip is better.
I stay at the Peppermill a few times a year. Check in has always been pleasant, sometimes not the fastest. The construction is not a problem. Dirt may be in the entry or near the doors, but I can%26#39;t see how it could be anywhere else.
We take the shuttle roundtrip, sometimes leave our car for two or three weeks. We%26#39;ve never had a problem. I find the drivers/baggage handlers to be courteous and professional. Perhaps your loss occurred during your flight or drive.
Someone tried to enter your room while you were napping? Are you sure is wasn%26#39;t another guest trying a key in the wrong door? I had a very adamant man demanding entry to my room one afternoon. He was drunk and mad that his wife wouldn%26#39;t let him in. He was on the wrong floor. LOL!
Reno and Vegas are different from each other. It%26#39;s like comparing apples and oranges. Patio rooms aren%26#39;t that common in Reno.
I told the front desk that we were celebrating our anniversary and asked if I could please pay for an upgrade. Wow! The suite they put us in (no additional charge) was incredible! We didn%26#39;t know Peppermill had anything like that. I%26#39;m sorry they didn%26#39;t help you celebrate your birthday.
Mini-bars? Avoid them like the plague in any hotel. Many use sensors. If in doubt, ask before opening them.
Sorry you didn%26#39;t have an enjoyable trip. Please try again, Peppermill is a nice place.
After reading this I%26#39;m glad I%26#39;m staying at the Sands Regency.
Happy belated Birthday!!!!
See, somebody cares.
przyk: Wow, never thought I would hear anyone say that they preferred the Sands over the Peppermill....
Sorry jungle, just a poor joke on my part. I booked the Sands for $27.00 per nite, expecting a very basic (hopefully clean) room.
I bet I won%26#39;t have to worry about mini bar charges at the Sands, huh?
I was just reacting to what I thought was a rather stange post.
przyk: I would guess that I have stayed at the Sands about 20 times, at least...they always give me a room in the 20 dollar range, sometimes free, with some free slot play, always try to get the 11th floor with a view of downtown (other side is depressing to me, saw too many strange things happen, and want to stay away from the railroad side ) I like the large rooms, always clean...
jungle,
Thanks for the tip. I read the hotel reviews, so I was going to ask for a room at the Sands on a high floor facing away from the tracks.
That%26#39;s the kind of info I like to find on TA. Opinions can be so subjective, as in this and many other posts, but good solid info like avoiding the noisiest part of a hotel or the worst of construction can be useful.
If I was staying at the Peppermill that%26#39;s what I would want to know. How long is the construction expected to last and where can I minimize the impact during my stay.
And, I never ask which casino has the best slots.
Gotta agree with you pryzk - that was one strange post. But then, 2 posts in 3 years - maybe just not enough practice?
