Grand Canyon Tours

Hi. Going to visit Las Vegas for the first time end October. We want to see Grand Canyon but don%26#39;t want to spend 10 hours on a coach. Looking at helicopter tours. Appreciate this will be to the West Rim but understand still very good. Should I book from the UK before departure? Looks like around $500 per person which seems expensive. Any thoughts?

Also, what should the weather be like on 25 October and the following seven days?

Thanks

If you insist on flying from LV in a helicopter, you are correct that gcwest is as far as you%26#39;ll be able to go. And yes it will be expensive, but you should probably be able to find something for less than $500pp. I%26#39;ve seen $300+ posted elsewhere.

However, for the same $300pp you could fly to the South Rim in a fixed wing aircraft, and tour the Grand Canyon Nat%26#39;l Park in a coach for a few hours and even do a helicopter flight from there if you want to. There was a recent post with a positive review of this trip.

Check Sceinic Airlines, or Grand Canyon Air. These are the two providers, and there are several booking agencies that will book trips with these operators.

You%26#39;re traveling all the way from England, and you want to see the Grand canyon. Why not see the real thing? And yes, I would encourage you to make a decision and book before you leave home. These trips are popular, and there is limited seating available.

Thanks for your advice. My only concern is that I did hear that the ride in a small fixed wing aircraft was very unstable. Any thoughts? If that is not the case then I amy look to do the South Rim as I have heard that it is far better.

I would certainly trust the stability of the small aircraft, even more so than a helicopter, based on required service and safety records.

They use different sizes of planes depending on the number of passengers. You can inquire when you book. And winds are what cause the turbulence that might be of concern. Those tend to be more seasonal and more active at different times of the day. Our monsoon season officially ends today, so that should be a source of relief for you.
