Best way to earn comps...

I know the obvious answer to getting comps is to spend a lot of money, but here%26#39;s my confusion: I like to play craps. I give my players card to the boss, and then I might be at a table for a few hours or so. The most I%26#39;ve ever gotten is a free buffet coupon, handed to me directly from the pit boss.

How do I earn bigger prizes? I would at least like to get a room comp someday. Is it the amount of time I spend at the table, or the amount of money I start with? If I start with $100 and play more as I win more, do they count only the starting money, or the additional money I%26#39;m laying down?

I have tried asking, but I usually get laughed at- I%26#39;m sure because I look a little out of place playing with the big boys (I%26#39;m 5%26#39;5'; and blonde, and I look very young for my age).

I know how to play and I have had as much as $1500 on the table at one time (hey, for me that%26#39;s a lot!) but I have yet to see any kind of kickbacks other than the occasional chip tossed my way from a fellow player. Are some casinos better than others with comps? Or do I truly have to play thousands of original dollars to win a free keychain?

It%26#39;s becoming harder and harder for table game players to earn comps when compared to slots. As you suggest you should ask at the players card desk of any property to get some sort of guidelines about how things work. You certainly shouldn%26#39;t be intimidated by your gender or appearance. Your money is as good as anybody else%26#39;s!

As always of course the golden rule is NEVER play with comps in mind. Gamble what you can afford to lose and look upon any comps as a bonus.

From one who plays the game, slots will bring you faster comps. In the game of dice they are looking at the amount of your bets, how long you%26#39;re playing and the number of sessions your playing.

Best advice as Blag said, dont play for comps.

Thanks both of you. I definitely don%26#39;t play for comps, I was just hoping I might get them for my spending. Oh well, it%26#39;s probably cheaper just to pay for the buffet in the long run ;)

from what i%26#39;ve gathered from the pit bosses, it is better to take out more money at one time with your initial buy in. however, you will get rated with additional buy-ins, but i usually buy in for much more than i plan to play with. the reasoning is that the casino wants you to have chips versus cash as it is much easier to gamble them away.

that%26#39;s one factor, the other is the amount of time you spend at the table and your average bet. if you%26#39;re playing craps, they%26#39;re going to look at the average size of all of your bets, so just laying money down on the pass line isn%26#39;t going to be rated that well. you%26#39;re going to need some more side action like place bets, or additional come bets.

at a blackjack table, you typically need a minimum bet of $25 for a period of 4 hours which can get you a comped room. if you gamble where you stay, always see the vip host before you leave and see if they can do anything for you. i usually charge everything to my room and then at the very least, they%26#39;ll usually comp my food.

i don%26#39;t know the exact science or point system behind the comps, but the above is what i have been told by various vip hosts %26amp; pit bosses.

and yes, comps do vary by casino or casino group. i%26#39;ve noticed that the hard rock and planet hollywood have been very generous with comps, while i haven%26#39;t had much luck at the venetian or harrah%26#39;s properties.

I%26#39;ve only been once a few years ago (going back next week!!)when I went with the then girlfriend. Stayed at MGM. We both signed up for the Player%26#39;s club Card, she did mainly slots with a daily roll of about $200 tops, I played mainly blackjack with a daily roll of $1500, 3 night stay and I was doing well, playing for long periods when we were gambling, maybe 15 hours total for the time there, she would have been less as she got jetlagged badly. 3rd day I sat down with $3000 playing $100/hand and was there for a couple of hours I guess, left about $1000 down but had fun...anyway, I say all this to say that I got comped my room service which was about $90 and got a free dinner anywhere in the casino, she had had one $500 win so was playing a lot of slots and lost all her money in the end but she was offered free nights, flight coupons, MGM shop freebies (jacket) and a free dinner anywhere in the casino. I might be a bit out with everything as it was a while ago but certainly at MGM slot play gets you far more that table play it seemed to me. Probably %26#39;cos the house edge is more on slots.

cup cakes,

i noticed in another thread that you like NYNY and have a fiance. you can bring your fiance but then we request you bring 2 additional hot 5%26#39;5'; blondes, preferably water soluble. this seminar is actually being held at NYNY where we are staying in the carlysle suite there.

haha they removed my post because they thought I was trying to sell you something----haha, they must have outsourced the moderator job to Bangelore where they don%26#39;t understand irony or humor.

Thanks everyone for your input. Too bad I don%26#39;t have the patience for slots... I guess I would rather just roll and have a great time at the craps table, than get free meals anyway.

Less Comps = more bonus for the general manager.
