scenic airways

we went to the grand canyon with scenic airways in july 07, well worth the visit recomend the mule rides into the canyon BUT scenic tend to fly low for viewing, this can have disastorous effects if you have a weak stomache. They obviously take the souvenir pictures before you take off for a good reason! Half the passengers on our flight left with a small white bag. When we came to the return journey we found out that the flight number we had didn%26#39;t exist! Infact they couldn%26#39;t understand how we made it on the first flight with the same number! after a bit of puffing and huffing they offered us seats on the next flight which was 4 hours later.

We ended up flying with Vision Air. this was a bigger plane which flew at a higher altitude with no little white bags needed! if you want a close up over the canyon fly with Scenic if you prefer to hold on to your last meal and need a swifter flight, fly with Vision Air

WE RENAMED SCENIC AIR: UPCHUCK AIRWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was a Pilot for Scenic Airways many years ago....my only advice to those with a weak stomach is to plan your trip to Grand Canyon in the cooler months of the year. The turbulence and thermal updrafts in the hot summer months do indeed make for a very uncomfortable ride.

Other than that, I will say that the DeHavilland -6 aircraft flown by Scenic is by far the safest and most comfortable aircraft available for tour flights. I know plenty about Canyon flying and I would not get on any other airline out there. No problem with their pilots, but the aircraft they fly leave very little margin for safety and error.
