Travel Worries - Expedia

Hi All

With all the UK travel companies going bust, would anyone know anything about expedia and how their doing financially.

I have our flights booked with them, flights through american airlines. If expedia went bust, would I be able to book the same flight and ticket direct with american airlines?

Thanks

Daniel

Hi

Has expedia already given you etickets? I would have thought with airlines they would have to pay up straight away. I have never used a third party for airline tickets so I am not certain how they work. If you have etickets then I would asume the airline have got their money.

Thanks for the comments, I wanted to know if expedia was atol protected, thanks very much.

I%26#39;ll check the tickets as well, thanks for the advice.

Just want to know what happens if they go bust 2 days before our honeymoon!

Hi

Did you pay by CC. I was watching TV yesterday and a travel/money expert said that not only does the CC give you your money back but they have to pay the difference if the ticket price has gone up. If you have paid by card have a look through the small print. Also if you have travel insurance check that you are covered for airline failure.

With expedia, you usually get e-tickets or ticket numbers for the flights within a day or two of booking your trip. No airline is going issue tickets or ticket numbers if they%26#39;ve not been paid. Also, expedia is not just a UK company and they do not have their own aircraft. Companies lke XL had their own aircraft, that%26#39;s the part of their operations that caused them to go bankrupt. You will be fine!

If you check your cc statement you will see that although you booked with expedia the cost of your flights is billed directly to the airline and your accomodation is billed to expedia. Cheers!

expedia is owned by the same company as ticketmaster and several other huge moneymakers. they%26#39;re not going anywhere soon, don%26#39;t worry.

and as others mentioned, booking everything via credit card will provide an extra layer of protection on your purchases.
