Rio Question

I received the following email today from Harrahs asking me if I want and upgrade

Thank you for booking your stay at Rio All-Suite Hotel %26amp; Casino, the wildest resort in Las Vegas.

What%26#39;s better than having a spacious suite? How about a great view of the dazzling Las Vegas Strip skyline? You can upgrade your accommodations to a high-floor, Strip-view suite for just $20 more per night! Call to get your upgrade at this discounted price.

Is this worth it, we are there on sept 18 and 19 before we change places to stay

Rio Question

Bear in mind that the standard accommodations at the Rio are referred to as ';suites'; despite the fact that in reality they%26#39;re just very large rooms. It sounds to me that they%26#39;re just offering you a standard room on a high floor with a Strip view.

These normally go for $30 per night extra. It%26#39;s your call as to whether or not it%26#39;s worth it for you.

Rio Question

Want to pay to be able to stand in a room looking out a window at the strip? i wouldn%26#39;t

I would pass and see what they offer at check-in. At the Rio, I would rather have a room with a pool view over a strip view.

never really thought about the pool view, but that does sound more interesting

I use to stay at the Rio quite often back in the day and I always got a pool view, a strip view from the Rio is not what I consider a strip view.

When Harrahs took this place over years ago the Rio starting to go down hill, over the years someone got smart and brought the place back to life.

The Rio is a great off strip hotel.

This email could be that marketing is searching for the future guest who does not know the layout of Las Vegas considering that the Rio is about a mile away from the Strip. And all of their rooms are suites as in the name of their hotel. Their Stripview is something like offering an oceanview room two miles away from the ocean seen in the horizon.

On the other hand, maybe seeing the lights of Las Vegas Blvd. at a distance from the room may be worth $20 dollars a night to some people and the Rio is giving the future guest this ';opportunity'; and the guest decides. I cannot even remember what the view was when we stayed at the Rio a few years ago.

Are you guys kidding?? The view of the Strip from Rio is breathtaking!! I went up to Voodoo Lounge last year and took in the most beautiful view of the Strip I have ever seen. It was really cool to get to see the Strip from a different point of view.

I don%26#39;t think $20 sounds unreasonable, but I hardly spend any time in my room. I would probably just make one trip up to the Voodoo at night to see the excellent view unless you usually spend a lot of time in your room gazing out the window.

I have to agree with Kygambler

The view is indeed breathtaking from the floor to ceiling windows.

The view for the VooDoo Lounge is spectacular, but my experience with the hotel views is that because of the way the buildings are angled, you either see part of the North strip, or part of the the South strip, with all of the construction cranes....I would not pay extra for a strip view....if you really want the view, visit the lounge!

I also prefer the pool view.

just came back and agree wih the pool view ;it was great!
