Deuce Questions + 1

Hi TAer%26#39;s

Got some questions about the Deuce.

I plan on buying the 24Hr pass. Is it also good on the CAT busses?

Can you get on with a drink in your hand?

Does it run 24hrs?

The info online for this service really sucks and I%26#39;m sure many of you are willing to tell me the service itself does too, but I%26#39;m staying on the N. Strip and will be using it mainly to go DT, so it seems logical to use it.

I do plan on taking a cab to the Double Down on a Sat night. I have heard that it is hard to get one back to the Strip. Any thoughts on this journey and the bar itself?

Thanks!

-Tortoise (9 days and counting)

Deuce Questions + 1

Yes the 24 hr day pass is good on all CAT buses.

I don%26#39;t think that drink(alcohol) are allowed on buses. I%26#39;ve never seen anyone carrying a drink on

The deuce runs 24 hrs/day and 7 days/week.

Deuce Questions + 1

No food or beverages ( even non -alcoholic) permitted- there are signs to that effect and folks were told to throw away cups if they wanted to board- I am fairly certain all drivers consistently enforce this.

I have never checked to see if Deuce runs all night but would guess it likely does, as many , but not all of the CAT buses do, but there really should be very accurate and complete info at www.rtcsouthernnevada.com

I%26#39;ve never found the information at that site lacking in any way- so maybe you just didn%26#39;t explore it thoroughly. Each route number ( including Deuce if I recall) has both a map and a timetable on pull down menus.

There is another bus that runs from N. Strip to Downtown , the 108- but I don%26#39;t think it runs all night- a few off hours in the very early morning- perhaps 3-5 or so. It stops across from the Strat. and also behind the Sahara on Paradise if I recall and runs behind and parallel to Fremont on Bridger. We get off there at the back of teh Golden Nugget. Also the 116 CAT bus runs from outside Fashion Show Mall ( bus shelter near Neiman Marcus on Spring Mountain Rd.) to just off Fremont St. but you%26#39;d have to check teh timetable to see if it has an early am service gap- some routes do , but not all.

I have not used Deuce very late at night, but have heard it can get quite the colorful clientele-and not in a good way. We use Deuce at earlier hours from time to time , but have actually come to prefer the 108 or 116- not as crowded and always on schedule in our experience - both things not always true of the Deuce.

Thanks lulutoo,

I did a massive search for a map just like you pointed me to. Never could find the right one. Should have saved some time and just posted here first. I knew there is a bus that runs parallel to the Strip and will consider it if the trip to DT turns out to be as bad as others say it is.

Thanks much,

Torotise

The trip to DT takes FOREVER on the Deuce, and I don%26#39;t recomend it late at night unless you are with a group of people. Any trip on the deuce seems to take a long time. We thought it was awesome our first couple trips, but the waiting gets anoying real fast. No drinks or food, I was yelled at for having an unopened can of redbull in my hand. I think the deuce is supposed to be 24hrs, but I waited for 45min one night/early morning and NO BUS.

Yeah, I got yelled at for having a drink, too. They don%26#39;t ask nicely, either- they really do yell!

Riding at night is like riding any other city bus through not-so-great areas. I wouldn%26#39;t consider it unsafe unless you get off the bus at one of these stops... Which, incidentally is where the Fremont St stop is. Just know the bus stops are not actually on the ';experience';. It%26#39;s a few blocks down past where the light show cover ends... and the darkness begins. Ooh ahh hahaha!!! (That%26#39;s supposed to a be a scary halloween-type laugh. Never mind.)

Taxi after %26#39;bout midnight imo, because it really is dark and shady over there.

cupcakes exaggerates the case. The Deuce drop-off downtown is less than a block from the canopy; the pick-up is one block away. There will be plenty of other tourists waiting for and riding the bus late at night - it%26#39;s considerably safer than riding the bus late at night in most American cities.

when we stayed on the strip we took the bus downtown to Fremont Street at least once during the week and usually twice - stayed until past midnight and got back on the bus back to strip. Never had a problem walking the block or so from the bus stop area to and/or fro Fremont Str. Now we stay downtown and do the trip in reverse and also have not had a problem.
