Is Burton Cummings touring with this ';version'; of the Guess Who?
If he%26#39;s not, yall are getting ripped off.
Guess Who Concert?OK, I did my own research on this question and can now say:
DO NOT waste your time and money on this SHAM of a ';concert'; because this is NOT anything that resembles the REAL Guess Who from the early 60s-mid 70s.
Why you might ask?
Well, the main reason is that Burton Cummings is not with this band and he was not only the ';voice'; of the band by singing lead on every song, his piano playing was also a big part of the sound and he wrote about 75% of the songs. Another major player, Randy Bachman is also not there, nor any other guitar player from that era.
So what you have left is a couple of non-descript members, Kale and Peterson (bassist and drummer) who look like fat old bikers along with some new dudes who probably weren;t even alive when the Guess Who was in their prime
These has-beens shuld be ashamed of themselves for putting on this ';act'; and anybody that buys it knowingly deserves what they get.
I hate frauds, now go enjoy the show.
Guess Who Concert?The Guess Who had a prime?
;)
';The Guess Who had a prime?';
Oh yea, but you got to be old enough to remember. They were the first Canadian group to have a #1 in USA, and they even bumped the Beetles from the top at one time.
But back to the original post- Have you seen or heard the current group? I am sure the answer is no. Sure, Burton Cummings is not with the touring group, but they got the sound down. I saw them less than a year ago, and I was very impressed. They put on a enegetic and great show in front of me and another 7,000 people.
I tried to get tickets for the show at the Tropicana, but was told it was sold out. I would love to see them again, but I have a feeling Steve won%26#39;t be there either. I would love to get ripped off again if I could.
I bought a bunch of tickets when sales opened. Have been trying to give them away to my buddies in the River Palms poker room. I tell them they are for the Guess Who. They respond, ';Who?'; I retort, ';Guess Who'; They come back, ';I don%26#39;t want to guess! You tell me!';
';I told you...Guess Who';
';And I told you, I won%26#39;t guess who!';
';So you don%26#39;t want the tickets?';
';What?';
';No...Who...Guess Who. A good band to watch.';
';I don%26#39;t need a watch band!';
And on it goes.
Needless to say, I haven%26#39;t been able to give away many tickets. If I told them Johnny Chan or Phil Helmuth were in town, they would camp out waiting to see them.
Whoa! Hold on Steve - you%26#39;re not being very fair. Randy Bachman left the band in 1970 and the band split up in 1975! The Guess Who has since re-formed, but not with Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman, except for a few one-night concerts. Yes I too enjoyed the %26#39;original%26#39; Guess Who, but that was (gulp) over 30 years ago.
Man I learned more about or aboot the Guess Who here than on my classic rock station.
I also learned Grif has spent too much time watching Abbot and Costello.
Third Base!
Grif Watch Band like the Chocolate Watch Band?
';Whoa! Hold on Steve - you%26#39;re not being very fair.';
Oh yes I am.
My point was that if Burton Cummings aint singing and playing piano, the band is not the Guess Who that everyone (over 45 anyway) remembers.
That COVER BAND can play any Guess Who song they want and it may sound OK, but they are NOT the real band and they should be charging what cover bands charge (about $10) as opposed to what the REAL bands get.
What they are doing is pretty much perpetrating a fraud on music fans that dont know any better.
My original post is 100% accurate and correct.
For you folks that know what you are getting, good for you. Enjoy the cover band.
I will be filing a class-action lawsuit on Sept. 16, 2008 to cause this band to ';Cease and Decist'; from promoting themselves as ';The Guess Who'; in any and all future concert venues including those already scheduled in the United States.
Mr. Kale and Peterson will be remanded to custody by the local sheriff in Laughlin, NV if they show up for their scheduled concert date and perform under ';The Guess Who'; name.
Jim Kale (Bass and Vocals) has legally secured the right to use the name, the Guess Who.
But if you must continue, why don%26#39;t you sue Three Dog Night too. They are appearing with the Guess Who in Huntsville, Alabama, at the end of the month.
You%26#39;re gonna need F. Lee Baily and Johnny Cocharane to win this one....and Johnny%26#39;s dead.
