Anyone stayed at Sam%26#39;s Town lately? Is it run down or has it been renovated? Is it nice or should we try somewhere else. How are the video poker/slots? Do they have a poker room?

Sam's Town
Aside from the fact its off strip the place is not all that bad for an older Hotel, not the newest of places, has a decent size casino. It still attracts locals especially on weekends.
Try for a room in the atrium which overlooks Mystic Falls.
It has its fair share of restaurants, none that are outstanding, but one that is decent is Billy Bob%26#39;s Steakhouse, you wont be disappointed.
You wont find a Bellagio type of cliental here but the over all experience should be fun.
If you dont mind the location then give it a shot, If your a first timer to LV I probably would not recommend you stay here.
I found it to be a nice basic hotel. Nothing fancy but nothing horrible. I wouldn%26#39;t stay there, however, unless I had a car. The shuttles are very reliable but they stop running very early- especially to the strip and back.
I also think you should stay on the strip if this is your first time in Vegas.
I was there from the 7 -12 of Sept and it was great.
42 inch plasma tv in the room. You will want to get an atrium view. The view of the mountains is nice however you get to see all of the airconditioning units.
Video poker isn%26#39;t too bad. I won about $300 on them.
Yes, they have a poker room located in the back. It%26#39;s a non smoking area.
Thanks for all the great info. If we decide to stay we will definitely ask for the atrium view.
