Trip Report - Hurricane Ike Adventure

We just got back from 4 nights in Laughlin. It was originally supposed to be 3 nights but we got extended because the Houston airports were closed on Sunday and had very limited activity on Monday. We went on a Harrah%26#39;s junket. You were right Grif, I%26#39;m done with Vegas. We really enjoyed ourselves. I love the laid back atmosphere. I%26#39;ve been to Elko several times and this reminded me of it. Everyone was very friendly.

I did well, my husband, not so well. It%26#39;s usually the other way around. Saturday was my day. I hit 1000.00 on the Wizard of Oz at the Colorado Belle and 750 on a Triple 7 at Harrah%26#39;s. I didn%26#39;t do much on the tables, I pretty much broke even. Would have come home with more if we would have left Sunday morning as originally planned. I didn%26#39;t have to hit the ATM so that%26#39;s like winning for me.

We ate mostly at Harrah%26#39;s. My husband made platinum on this trip so he was pretty excited. I must say, I was very impressed with their buffet staff. My husband had oral surgery 3 weeks ago, he had all of his teeth pulled and implants put in so he has a very limited diet and isn%26#39;t able to eat many things. We got the steak buffet on Saturday and since he didn%26#39;t eat much, the waitress insisted that they refund his dinner and they did. Wouldn%26#39;t find that in Vegas.

We heard at the airport that they are expanding and hope to begin commercial flights in February. I really hope so. I can%26#39;t wait to go back.

Didn%26#39;t get to try Mr. Hollywoods this time, my husband can%26#39;t eat pizza, but I will next time.

The funniest thing happened Sunday night. I didn%26#39;t see it though. My husband was playing the penny slots and this very elderly lady started hitting a machine and yelling at it because she said it took all her money and ruined her trip. He said her language was pretty bad.

I am really happy that you had a great time! My wife just kills the Wizard of Oz machines too. She plays the ones at the Edgewater. Hurry back and see us! And that lady pounding the slot machine?..........That was my wife. (Just kidding)

Nice wins!! I was in Reno last month and tried for 3 days to get on the Wizard of Oz machine, I swear those people never ate! Looking forward to trying it next month in Laughlin though.
