Virgin America

Has anyone flown with Virgin America on their SFO - LAS route? Any opinions \ reviews etc?

I%26#39;m booked to fly with US Air but was wondering how the two services compare

Virgin America

I haven%26#39;t flown Virgin Atl. at all, but I have seen their crew and their uniforms look snappy. This is probably due to the fact that is an indirectly UK owned company and we all know how much better anything from the UK is. Heck, even the McDonalds%26#39; are better there.

Gee I sure wish I was a subject of the crown, then I too could be better than the rest of the world.

Virgin America

I normally fly with Virgin Atlantic on their LHR - SFO and find their service in economy to be excellent. I%26#39;m flying over in 2 weeks with BA and their service is very good and very English.

I%26#39;ve only flown with 2 us carriers, US Airways (SFO-LAS) and Delta (SFO - ATL - SNN- DUB) and find the service on the UK carriers to be far superior, so I%26#39;d expect the service on Virgin America to be better than the two US carriers that I%26#39;ve used.

I%26#39;d love to be a subject of the Crown too and might become one in a few years.

I have flown first class, not main, with Virgin America four different occasions.

The amenities to first class with VA is far superior to the experiences I have had with US Air, Delta, and AA first class.

First class tends to be iffy within the continental USA with most airlines, and often-times just promises a larger seat, maybe priority security check through and loading/luggage. You take your chances with polite attendants even in first--it can be a hit and run.

With Virgin America, on every occasion, service has been second to none, attention to detail/comfort AND seeming to appreciate you chose to fly with them. Amenities were so very impressive and included plush seating, reclining with foot rest, spacing, massaging chairs, bottomless bar/food service, a technological playground with their ';Red-an Interactive Environment'; in flight entertainment system. Heck, interactive games, huge selection of movies/music, and can enter the plane%26#39;s chat room to talk with other passengers--with everyone%26#39;s consent respectively. This entertainment system is with both first and main cabin.

If I recall, their planes are new. With VA pushing to get into markets, some of their planes, while new, are not --fully configured-- with all the bells/whistles with entertainment/technology. The vendor who VA contracted with was not ready, but VA, instead of canceling flights, went forward and offered partial credits to passengers for the inconvenience who flew in those planes. I have not had to deal with this problem yet. I think it was some of the Airbus 319 ?or 320%26#39;s--not exactly sure. And they are using those planes for the shorter leg flights so as not to create to much of an inconvenience to passengers versus the longer leg flights--DC to LA/SFO, or NY to LA/SFO

Bottom line, I would go VA regardless of class.

We recently flew Virgin American from SFO to Las Vegas. They have a row a seats just behind first class which you can buy at a premium - $15 more - and those seats are supposed to have a footrest with more legroom. No footrest on our two flights. I would have just booked the regular seats if I knew that. The flight attendants didn%26#39;t seem to care that we paid for something we didn%26#39;t get. Also, on both flights, our video/tv would not work and two of the three of our seats would not recline.

Other than that, the interior of the plane is pleasant; the counter staff was nice and the flight was short.

I%26#39;m just surprised at the lack of concern when they are supposed to be so customer oriented. Not the case. So, we paid an extra $30 per person for absolutely nothing and they couldn%26#39;t care less.

The SFO-LV route is so short that I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s worth the expense to upgrade to more legroom or first class. I%26#39;ve had mixed experiences with the video on VA - sometimes it works fine, other times it doesn%26#39;t. Again, it%26#39;s a short flight and I always bring something to read just in case. I do like the fact that VA offers an alternative to Southwest - they often pay price tag so I%26#39;ll check both sites to see who has the lower fare. I%26#39;ve even flown one down and the other back up to SFO. VA%26#39;s slight advantage is the reserved seating, plus they let you select your seat out of those available. And, if you take BART into SFO, VA flies out of the international terminal, so no need to take the airport tram around to the terminal SW flies out of.

Big fan of Virgin America, I try to take the SFO-LAS flight whenever possible. I remember my first Virgin flight from San Francisco to Vegas, the counter staff in front of the gate helped people pass the time by playing dice games for free drinks/movies on the plane. Plus the swanky interior and the in-flight entertainment makes for a great 90-minute plane hop. Greatly recommended.
