Gold Coast Casino

We are considering a stay there late this year or early 2009 and would like some info if possible.

We%26#39;ve heard the renovations are causing some problems there, but we will likely choose a premium upgraded (renovated) room. Is there anything we should be wary of based on current conditions? How are the premium rooms? We%26#39;ve been told the bathrroms are small at this hotel, are the newly renovated rooms better?

Also, how are the cupcakes there. Sorry just kidding about the cupcakes.

Thanks in advance to all that can help.

Airbus: I stayed at the GC for 5 nights last week, 9th floor (there are only 10) and it was really quiet, no noise from any renovations...I took the standard room (15.00 more for the newer ones per night)...the room was more than sufficient for me (solo), kingsize bed, yes, the bath area is small, but the toilet and shower areas are seperate....security at elevators most of the time, got tired of waiting on the shuttles, however...TGI Fridays is under construction...no cupcakes, but there is a hotdog stand by the sportsbook for a buck and a quarter....

I was there August 10-17 and I did have problems because they put me in a room directly below the rooms being renovated(5th floor). At one point the noise was unbearable- jackhammering in the room above mine. They were having some problems with flooding in some rooms and lack of hot water. They moved me to a new room on the second floor and I didn%26#39;t hear anything in the new room. If they are still renovating- find out what floor and make sure you are are least two floors away from that floor. I was in a standard room each time.

Yes, the bathroom is small but they say they redesigned it in the renovated rooms so there is more room. I never really had an issue with the bathrooms.

It is a basic hotel but it is very clean and safe. The staff has always been great- friendly and efficient. Even though I did have a car I did use the shuttle sometimes at night and I had no problems with it. I didn%26#39;t eat there so I can%26#39;t comment on the restaurants.

Airbus, I will be staying there again next weekend. I haven%26#39;t stayed there since last December but will report back on my return. I%26#39;ve alsways liked the GC so I%26#39;m anxious the see the changes that have been made.

Thank you all for the replies.

We hope the renovations are done by the time we visit, if not, we are looking at slow weeks so maybe we can avoid noise. The jackhammer comment reminds me of the commercial. ';Honey did you pack my flipflops?';.

VegasVarment, that%26#39;d be great if you can let me know what you find. Are you staying in the renovated room?

Thanks again to all.

hey jungle!!!!

AF, No I didn%26#39;t book a renovated room but if they have availability I probably will ask for one when I check in. It was only $10 more per night.

I was supposed to be put in a renovated room. There were none available when I arrived (about 10:30 PM). I did get to see some of the renovated hallways and they did look nice.

I knew VP would have an answer for you.

I have stayed in one of the renovated rooms. The bathrooms seem to be the primary difference: they%26#39;ve knocked out the wall and door that separated the toilet/tub area, taken out the clothes rack, and enclosed that area as one. Unfortunately, there is not a door but a slider to access the new bathroom and the slider is not completely soundproof or lightproof. The tub has been replaced by a large shower that has half of a tempered glass panel between it and the toilet. Shower water can leak out into the toilet area if you%26#39;re not careful. Oh yes, the room decor is less old-style Vegas flowery and more new-style Vegas subdued browns. I%26#39;d say it%26#39;s a toss up between the new and old rooms - I wouldn%26#39;t pay extra for the renovated room.

Thanks for that information Fredo, very helpful. I take it the new bathroom doesn%26#39;t afford much privacy. Not a problem for us but I can see where it could be for some.

Again, thanks to all who helped.
