Jetblue Airways Fraudulent Bookings

Hi

Got an email today to say that I have booked a flight with Jetblue and my card has been charged with $440.67

I have never booked a flight with or contacted Jetblue. When I phoned them today they said that there is a scam going on with emails bookings and credit cards and i need to wait on their recovery department looking into this for me but it does not appear that an actual booking has been made.

Very worrying.

Anyone had any similar problems.

Maybe better to avoid booking online with Jetblue just now.

We received a bogus Jetblue email today for about that amount and another re an American Airlines ';booking';. Both say our credit card has been debited for the full amounts but so far that hasn%26#39;t happened.

Jetblue%26#39;s response to your call is reassuring.

These emails came within 24 hours of us booking an Australian domestic flight online through Jetstar airlines.

There is a similar thread with the same problem regarding Delta Airlines.

travelguru did you ever check your credit card and not just go by what the email read?

I posted this information on the TA airline forum, so I hope it is accurate.

I have recieved 3 of these e-mail from different companies claiming i have booked tickets with varying amounts.I assume they are just junk hoping you may open the attachment.I have just deleted them.but will keep checking my banking online just to make sure.

I have a flight booked with Hawaiian Air. Received an email from them warning me of this bogus email going around. They stated it was not from them and was a scam looking for people to open the attachment to the email which will release a virus.

Hi, Had same thing today,we are in Australia - did not open file as it was zipped so tohught may be virus.I will forward on to Jetblue and have them follow up on it.

Hi,

Had the same today,we are in Australia.I will send it on to Jetblue.I will pass it on to let them deal with it.

hi i had an email like that for jetblue airways saying they have debited $617.45 for my account, have not opened as i have not booked flights and have a feeling it will be a virus!

what some very small people have to do for entertainment, its ridiculous!

Bumping this up so folks will be warned not to open these e-mails and possibly get a virus.

I don%26#39;t know why the original poster is afraid to book with Jet Bllue online though. Since he did not book with them at all before the fraudulent e-mail arrived and so many other airlines are having similar problems not related to customers who have booked with them either, it appears none of the airline websites are the source of the problem- at leasst that is my opinion. If I were to get an e-mail from any airline referring to a booking witha n attachment in it,after hearing about this, I would either call the airline or forward it to them with attachment unopened to help them track down the culprits. Sounds similar to a recent phising scheme that sent out e-mails to many random addresses talking about an overcharge on ';your recent electronics purchase'; and asking you to fill in a form with your credit card number and security code to get ';a credit';. Scammers must blanket many e-mails , hoping to randomly contact someone who had made ';a recent electronic purchase'; on e-bay, which we had not.
