MGM front desk

How much discretion does a front desk clerk have when it comes to accepting the $20 trick or handing out buffet or nightclub passes? I%26#39;ve always had success with the room upgrades but don%26#39;t know if I can request even more than that with my gratuity. I guess my options at MGM are limited to the Bungalow suites since I will need 2 beds and it%26#39;s probably impossible to get a Marquee suite without having to pay for it.

It doesn%26#39;t hurt to ask... I%26#39;m all about asking for things, because most people don%26#39;t offer. The worst that happens is they say no. The one time I did ask for a club pass though, I was referred to the concierge. I don%26#39;t remember which hotel it was, but it wasn%26#39;t MGM.

MGM is running a lot of promos right now for upgrades, club passes, and dining money, depending on when you are going...

I can offer info on the Marquee Suite. If they haven%26#39;t upgraded the Marquee Suite yet, you may be able to score one for $150 more a night. (If that%26#39;s acceptable in your price range) Myself, and several TA memebers have received that deal in the past. Worth asking for a very large suite with great 180 views.

For upgrades, I generally just ask nicely, and if they can accommadate me, I%26#39;ll tip them at the end.

Although MGM has been very generous with comps for us (Bungalow Suite and limited food and beverage), I%26#39;ve never been able to get a free upgrade, not even a strip view. My impression is that the front desk clerks there are unable to do much for you. I think you can normally upgrade from a regular room to a Bungalow Suite for about $30 to $50 per night, but I wouldn%26#39;t have any high expectations about a free room upgrade. I%26#39;ve had much better luck with free upgrades at The Mirage.

If you want line passes to the buffet and cafe, check with the Players Club desk. I think they probably have more latitude on what they can do for you.

MGM gave me a Celebrity Spa Suite a few months ago. A few weeks ago she wouldn%26#39;t upgrade us saying all suites were full/booked. We had a choice of airport view or strip view but strip view wasn%26#39;t ready for another 1/2 hour. We took the airport view.
