Help needed with Grand Canyon trip....please!!

Hi im off to vegas next week and would like to take a helicopter trip to GC. I have read other topics and posts about not actually seeing the GCNP via copter but in all honesty were are only there a short time and dont fancy sitting on a bus for hours or spending a night there so we will have to with the west rim.

So with that said I would like a little advice.

What tour operators would you recommend? I have looked at look tours which i believe uses sundance and also papillion which are about $100 per person cheaper. Are these any good and do you have any other ideas on a good company?

Also is it better to book before I leave or wait until arrival in Vegas and then book from there?

Any help will be greatlt appreciated as im a Vegas nOOb and just want to get this right.

Cheers

Despite what you say you really shouldn%26#39;t travel all the way from Wales and visit the ';West Rim';. Grand Canyon is one of the world%26#39;s great natural wonders and needs to be seen, appreciated and enjoyed at its best. Too many people look upon it just as something to be checked off a list of things to see whilst in Vegas like a Cirque show or the Bellagio fountains.

If you%26#39;ve never seen canyon scenery you%26#39;d probably be impressed with the ';West Rim'; but it pales into insignificance when compared to the real thing at North or South Rims. If you don%26#39;t have the time to stay overnight at South Rim then you can take a day trip from Vegas by fixed wing aircraft. I%26#39;m sure others will recommend companies that offer this.

Hi Davso,

we are also going next week and are using HeliUSA. We are doing the helicopter and ranch trip followed by a flight along the strip on the way back. We booked through Keith Prowse here in the UK. The prices were ok but when we asked if we could change the booking they were not helpful at all. In the end I contacted HeliUSA direct and they were really helpful.

http://www.heliusa.com/ is the web address. I would suggest that you check out the prices on their site and then do a google search for the same trips on UK sites.

I agree with what other posters say about the West Rim but, like you, this is our first trip and we have a hell of a lot to see!! Maybe if we come back again we can see the GCNP in all of its glory.

Me and my Wife leave on Monday morning, getting really excited now. We are there for 8 nights staying at the Signature. Hope you have a great time.

Thanks for the advice so far. Has anyone got any views on whether i should book in advance via the net or wait until arrival for the best deals??

I hope you have a great time too, we are flying out on tuesday and cant wait!!

I%26#39;ll throw in a bit of advice for doing a day trip by air to the Grand Canyon Nat%26#39;l Park at the South Rim. Check Scenic Airlines and Grand canyon Airways as providers for flight trips to the South Rim. You can do it for around $300pp including flights to anf from Tusaysan and a coach tour inside the park for several hours.

This is what you really want to see, and in the long run it won%26#39;t cost any more than a helicopter flight to the west rim.

And regardless of what you decide, I%26#39;d book before you leave home. The deals won%26#39;t change, but availability will disappear.
