I%26#39;ll be staying at Bally%26#39;s with my mother-in-law next month. She has trouble walking long distances. Thought the shuttle service would be good to use for visiting the other Harrah%26#39;s casinos. How often do the shuttles run, and how much is an appropriate tip for the ';free'; shuttle ride(s)?
Bally's shuttle to other Harrah's sites
There%26#39;s actually no shuttles from Bally%26#39;s to other Harrah%26#39;s properties. There%26#39;s a shuttle from Paris next door to the Rio. Rio also has shuttles to and from Flamingo, Caesars and Harrah%26#39;s.
These run around every thirty minutes. No tips are expected unless the driver has been especially helpful in some way.

Here is a link to the free shuttles in Vegas. I always tip when I use a shuttle- even if it is only $1. Some people don%26#39;t, however.

Maybe the monorail would be a good idea. I looked at the prices and there is 6 rides for $20. Might work out. I%26#39;m just trying to make sure she doesn%26#39;t get worn out too fast.
VP03 - what a great link fo rthe free shuttles! Thank you so much for posting!
Many of the monorail stations are set way back from the strip. It is a hike to get to them-not good for someone who has trouble walking.
Have you considered renting a car? You can valet park or leave her off at the front of the hotel and self park. Parking is free in Vegas (tip for valet parking). Or you could just take cabs everywhere (althogh that could be expensive).
They do have electical scooters that you can rent. Would she be willing to use one?
I should warn you- most of the hotels are far apart and many people end up with sore feet and blisters just walking the strip- especially their first time when they didn%26#39;t bring the proper shoes.

You are welcome- glad I could be of help.
Skimoak---There is a shuttle that picks up in front of Paris, which is next door to Ballys, there is a walk=way between Bally%26#39;s and Paris (connected indoors) that you can take, but its still quite a little hike, don%26#39;t know how bad her legs are. Last year when we were there, they had a shuttle that picked up at Ballys and took us over to the Rio, but I think someone on here said that shuttle no longer picks up there, but picks up at Paris now...We always take the Duece a bus, which picks up at paris, its $5.00 pp for 24 hrs...we find this is the best way to go up and down the strip, also it takes you over to Fremont St. downtown. Hope this has helped.
I agree the shuttle %26amp; monorail are long walks, that maybe the rental car may be your best bet for your mother in law or a cab.
Thank you all for your posts. She won%26#39;t use a scooter. I guess we%26#39;ll just get there and decide where to go, then perhaps share the expense of a cab.
I also second the suggestion to rent a car. A couple of cab rides a day is more expensive and the rental car give you total flexibility.
It%26#39;s actually quite easy to get around the strip by car. It gets a little crowded in the evening, but the side streets are a breeze.
If I was showing someone the sights who had walking issues it would be the only way to go. Taxi lines at hotels can sometimes be quite long.
Like someone else said, there is free parking (self and valet) at just about every property, so it works out well.
